Some of my takeaways:
Mothers are so important and I thought of my Mom throughout this book. Although she is still living and has different characteristics, her unconditional love is the common thread.
It also made me think of me being a Mom. I've made plenty of mistakes, but my love for my kids is solid and there's no mistake about that.
If I had a chance, like "Chick" Benetto, to go back and change the times that I took my Mom for granted, I probably would. The good news is when we have regrets about the past, we can learn from our mistakes, make changes and move forward, rather than dwell on the mistakes. We can look at it more positively, as a time for growth and the opportunity to not make the same mistakes, whether it be with our Mom or in any relationship.
You will smile and cry when you read this book. My hope is you evaluate your life and if you need to make changes in your relationships (with parents or anyone), have the courage to do it, but don't beat yourself up about the past.
