We will be wrapping up the school year in a little over 3 weeks! In order for students to continue enjoying our library, we reviewed Destiny Discover E-Books. Students reinforced their previous E-Books knowledge by checking them out and downloading them so that they know how to access them offline, if/when they do not have internet access.
Click on Navigate Your Way To Reading Success for more information. Please let me know if you have any questions with our nearly 500 free E-Books available to Lancers anytime!
It's hard to believe that we only have less than a month of school left!
If you have library books checked out, please be sure to return them by Tuesday, May 10th! You may continue to enjoy E-Books all year! Click here for more information! In anticipation of placing a library book order for the 2022 - 2023 school year, please let me know if there are any books that you would like to see in our library collection. I'd be happy to add them to our list and will do my best to get them ordered.
Please email your book requests to me by Friday, May 20, 2022 and I'll let you know if we currently have the book. If you're interested in looking at the books that we currently have, I invite you to click on the following link: Navigate Your Way to Reading Success The month of April has lots of things to celebrate! Easter and Poetry are two of those things! 6th grade students learned about Acrostic Poems for National Poetry Month. We also watched a short video on the history of the #1 non-chocolate Easter candy, PEEPS! We put all of this together and the students wrote acrostic poems using the word "PEEPS". They also enjoyed the tasty, yellow PEEP Chicks candy (which is the best selling color of the chick peeps) and had the opportunity to check out poetry books and verse novels. Enjoy this video on PEEPS! Hope you had great Spring Break! Be sure to visit the library to renew or check out new books!
6th grade students had the opportunity to check out Women's History books. They also learned the history of St. Patrick's Day as well as the Celtic folktales of the Leprechaun. For fun and to celebrate the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, they played Minute To Win It activities with rainbow colored snacks!
The activities included stacking marshmallows with chopsticks, using straws to put skittles in cups and balancing fruit loops on popsicle sticks in 1 minute. (activity courtesy of Jamie Sears, "Not So Wimpy Teacher".) Students received a Leprechaun Treasure (snack bag with colorful cereal) to take home. Check out the fun! |
