6th grade students celebrated Valentine's Day early with "Love" books and constructing hearts! They used their engineering and problem-based building skills to build hearts out of Legos. Each group used 32 Legos to build their hearts upright. They had 10 minutes to complete the construction. They earned prizes for their creations and had the opportunity to check out "Love" books afterwards!
Great job eLearning! Only a few more days left and we'll be back! I can't wait to see everyone in person on Monday, January 31st!
As you know, beginning tomorrow, January 19th, the MSHS will be moving to eLearning. I wanted to let you know that you do not have any assignments for my guided study and do not need to check in with me.
I also wanted to remind you that there are different options available to continue reading books from the library during eLearning. First, if you have any books you would like to check out, return or renew before tomorrow, please feel free to visit the library today. Also, there are nearly 500 free E-books (electronic) available for you to read at any time! Click here for more information about this option. To find out more information about the library, what's available to you and the procedures, please visit my website Edinburgh Middle School/ High School Library. While you're on the website, don't forget to click on Mrs. Bowman's Blog for information. Please don't hesitate to contact me via email or my website by clicking on the contact button and submitting any questions you may have. I'm always happy to help! If there are any library updates, I'll let you know via email, the Daily Announcements and this blog. I look forward to hearing from you and seeing you back for in-person learning soon! We are focusing on snow and winter books in January. How are we doing this? With books, marshmallows and rulers, of course!
6th grade students used their engineering and math skills to build the tallest snowman they could, utilizing all 8 marshmallows, 8 toothpicks and only 2 minutes of their time and brain power! Their snowmen had to stand upright with no assistance and the marshmallows had to be touching. They learned they had to build some type of base to support their top-heavy yummy creations. We reviewed measuring with a ruler and they measured their finished products. The tallest snowman measured 6 1/2 inches. They took home individual miniature snowman treat bags and checked out books to enjoy! Want to read about the tallest snowman? Click here to see the world record!
