Individually,
we are single drops of rain,
falling silently into the dust,
Offering scant promise
of moisture to the thirsty land.
But, together,
we can nourish the Earth
and revive its hopes and dreams.
Together,
we are a thunderstorm.
At the age of 16, Amity Gaige, wrote the book WE ARE A THUNDERSTORM, and won the The 1989 National Written & Illustrated by...Awards Contest for Students. How cool is it that we have this collection of poems in our library and can enjoy it today! Not only are her poems wonderful, but her photographs that go with each of them are so neat!
